You are getting there though. Maybe he needs to help you on the track and you need to help him on the starts.

hey jeff it does work if you just stay in the gas till that last second after you see the others brake then you brake you can have the hole shot if you dont get in the gas to hard remember you are in the lead at this time so just ride your ride

hey jeff it does work if you just stay in the gas till that last second after you see the others brake then you brake you can have the hole shot if you dont get in the gas to hard remember you are in the lead at this time so just ride your ride You know, I have the knowlege but lack the skills so take my advice if you want. I can tell you that when I was on a 125 and trying to compete with all the 450's in my class that the only way I had a chance was to out brake the competition. Ask any real fast racer and they will tell you that in racing it is on the gas or on the brakes but never coasting. I think the key is to learn the braking potential of your bike and practice it. You should be on the verge of locking your front wheel just about every time you brake (excluding dragging your brake through corners or whoops). There are drills that I used to do that I never see anyone do, I rarely do myself anymore only because I'm not that serious about winning, (I just love to race). Doing circle drills, figure 8's, reverse the direction and repeat. Practice hard accelrations and stops. Learn proper static body positions and practice, practice, practice. I promise that if you do any of these that you will have a serious advantage over the competition. Seems that most everyone is intrested in only practicing jumping and that's not how races are won. Can't accelerate in the air, wheels have to be on the ground.

Jeff, Thanks. This is exactly what I've been preaching to my grandson. Most of it anyway; I haven't started on him yet about dragging the brake. But, anyway ... right on man. I wish I could slice open his head and pour this stuff in. Talking hasn't worked yet. LOL
