WOW... I would love to see ALL of us working together to "GET ER DONE." EVERBODY, Bob, Ryan, Danny, Jeff, Brenda, Billy, and me (Paula)& Mike CAN work together! I will start off by saying no money was lost, but none was made either. Mike & I love doing what we do on race day. Mike works on Saturdays and can't come out on workdays. He does come out on Monday's and work on what he can. After Januarys race Ryan and Mike talked about coming out and working on the track, but as you know I think it rained every other day this last month. I agree on the meetings cut short, sometimes I feel we are rocking right along and then BOOM! Meeting ends. Maybe it's an atmosphere issue. Maybe the meetings need to be held at the track on the last Sunday of the month. Shut the track down from riding, Oh say, 2 hours, have a controlled meeting. This will be very important. Walk to the problem area. Get to the point, VOTE, appoint someone to FIX the problem and move on. I KNOW,,, Easier said than done. But Hey... We Must start somewhere. Please remember. This track is a club track, ran by many and not a private track where one is in control of everything. Finger pointing only hurts people, and that’s not what our club is all about. Please think before we speak (type). When I met Mike 5 years ago I knew NOTHING about motorcycles (still don't) and now my entire family is involved. Denise at the front gate, Kim at the scoring tower, Terry helps out whenever and wherever he is needed. Mike & I spend our dinner time talking about… Yeah that’s right MOTORCYCLES and the club. Ever so often we talk about ME. ME, ME I promise Mike & I will work hard to resolve track issues, but we are human and can't please everyone at one time. ;)Wink Wink. Please don't hesitate to ask us to try something different. And if we aren’t working out we have no problem stepping down and letting someone take over. We just wantta have FUN!!!! Life to short to fight, unless it's a pillow fight! God Bless, Paula Haynes PS. #36 did run off and hide from the others and I seriously thought about black flagging him, but I couldn’t catch up with the official running the race to ask. He He He Oh. Almost forgot. The kido on the 70 in the 50's class. Mike spoke with his Dad at Januarys race and he's going to move up a class when he comes back.

Ryan, I love to watch the quads race, I think they look more dangerous because they are bigger and have 4 wheels. Mike & I have been pushing quads to come out, we even had trophies made with quads on top. So lets just keep on keeping on. Paula

Paula, Your idea of monthly meetings at the track is great! You get my vote. Everyone, If we all feel meetings are cut short before issues are resolved, why do we second the motion to close the meetings? If something gets unnoticed or unresolved, we need to oppose. I am willing to stay as long as it takes to get every issue covered. As for #36, it seemed like during the Vet races, the official was off somewhere by himself, no where to be found. He wasn't even reachable by radio.

I agree with Paula and Ryan -- monthly meetings at the track would be a great idea! Instead of having a workday the Saturday before the race -- what about the weekend right after the race so if we need to "tear something up" to fix it, the track has time to get broken back in? Being able to look at a problem and discuss it right then and there would probably get more done than discussing it while eating pizza.
I can't drive a tractor, but I clean a mean bathroom - ha! ha! I agree let's work together to get things hopping again!

Oh my, lots of ideas and opinions floating around this place today. I guess I will put in my two cents wether it means anything or not. I like the idea posted by Paula, having the meetings at the track. It seems like the most logical place, being able to see the problems and vote on it and appoint someone at that time to fix the problem. There seems to be many people volunteering their time and equipment, don't understand why we don't accept their gracious offer. If someone believes that person "doesn't know how to work on the track", why not have someone who does know how to work the track be there and guide this person how to instead of turning it down.
I met Bob James at his son's birthday party this year. As mentioned, he does have a nice track at his house. I believe he would serve us well. I have not met Ryan from TripleCrown, but also believe he would do the same if allowed. I don't know who is actually in charge of track maintenance, but I think it would be worth that persons time to talk to these two gentlemen and see what the club could come up with.
Like Paula mentioned, it would be so nice to work together and get it done.
One last thing, I was suprised that some of the club officers don't even read this forum. I can't imagine not reading it. Jeff you have done a wonderful job, if only they knew. I know you indicated that you would print some of these posts and present them at the meeting. I think a motion should be raised that all officers read the forum and then they would understand that there are many of us "regular members" do care about the club and want it to thrive, and that many of us non-riders have good ideas and are more than willing to give of our time.
See y'all at the track...

Mike & I can say that when a race is going on and scoring is being done it is difficult to take our focus off the track to discuss and issue we have already taken care of. Not 30 seconds after he cut the track I was on the radio with Mike and he told me to DQ him. And yes we heard it from several very concerned overseers; you may have been one of the last ones. Sorry, but we were just trying to keep the races going so we would not be there all day. If you took me as being LESS THAN POLITE I beg to differ, but will apologize full-hearted, because sometimes I do get caught up with the races. Now as far as Mike, He really is a polite guy, sometimes he comes across little blunt especially when he's got allot going on. I ought to know, I'm married to him. And I'm going to pass on the unfair part. We've blacked flagged our own son... As far as people jumping into a race they are not signed up in drives scorekeepers nuts. I call they to the tower and give them a warning. Yes I will say things do happen, but we try to put a halt to it. Mike & I get to the track as early as 6:00/6:30 and bust our buns to get the race started by 9:00, trust me we are ready to go home and get to the couch too. But just as I said earlier, if Mike & I need to step down we will. BUT we will continue to support the club. It's a BIG part of our lives. No hard feelings taken on my part. Once again we are all out there to ride and have fun! God bless, Paula

I was just aggravating you when I was talking about the quads except the part about the Quad riders constantly telling us that they will have a bunch of riders at a race. I never heard that from you but I have heard it from a bunch of Quad riders then they don't show up.
I was pulling your chain about them being so dangerous. I do think they are more dangerous than bikes because they seem to get on top of you more often but the friendly rivalry between Quads and bikes never ends.

Danny, Not a problem. I just had a hard time seeing that part as sarcasm since the rest of your post seemed more on the serious side. Luckily for us at WEMC the rivalry is friendly. I know at some other tracks, quads and bikes are not even allowed to ride or race on the same days.

I know that I could never be a scorekeeper. It is very difficult to make sure you get the number of every bike that passes by. Remember if a bike is missed you would be counted as lapped. I would highly recommend everyone not bother Paula with problems but go directly to Mike. Two years ago I ran a lot of races and I can tell you straight, it doesn't take long to get aggravated. It is especially bad at Waco Eagles because the person running the races often does not have the authority or resourses to get the track changed or maintained.
My hat is off to Mike and Paula they both listen to our gripes and continue working. That is a hard thing to do in an often thankless job.
One big suggestion to all the Members is to make special mention of how much you appreciate Mike efforts when you go into Bargers. I know the track problems sometime interfere with Mikes job.

I also wanted to respond to TripleCrown. I am sorry if you think I may have been rude to you for not speaking but let me tell you why. When you have a Mini Racer you run into the following problems;
He can not or will not dress himself even if he does you worry that he may not have put on his equipment correctly,
he always wants to ride so he bugs you constantly while you are trying to get his bike ready,
when he is not bugging you he has disappeared somewhere and he expects you to chase him down for the next Moto,
he never has to go to the bathroom unless it is 5 minutes before his Moto
then your Daughter shows up with your Granddaughter her Boyfriend has wrecked the bike bending the bars all the way to the tank,
Of course Grandaughter has forgotten some of her equipment and left it at home,
Granddaughter nor the Flea is signed up,
Daughter forgot to bring the entry fee,
Grandaughter is dressed and off to practice,
Grandaughters bike is out of gas and Daughter is expecting to just use a little of the Flea's gas which won't work,
Jeff comes by needing a bolt for the boy in Killeen's bike I know I have one but where,
MommaFlea is having a problem with the 4 wheeler and wants it fixed now so she can get around to the back side of the track and that was just last race.
Man I will be glad when they are big enough to do all that themselves. As you can see some of us MiniParents get pretty occupied at the races.
If you get this message explain to them at the meeting how hard that ground is and why that little tractor is not big enough to get the job done even if it was brand new. I heard how your big tractor had problems with the hard dirt.
Please act like Mike and Jeff, if you need me for something grab me and yell so that I know you are trying to get my attention.

I WOULD LOVE TO DO SOMETHING FOR THE TRACK. I HAVE A SMALL TRACTOR, BUT IT GROOMS FACES AND LANDINGS WELL. HAS A SMALL BUCKET. I WILL TRY TO ORCHESTRATE GETTING UP THERE WITH IT. BOB ;D Okay Bob, just got in from the meeting and we covered a lot of issues. I think everyone is on the same page, all are looking forward to a possitive change that will improve our facilities. Several members of this site were present and expressed the need to move forward with track repairs. We voted to accept your offer to help out the club, I hope that the 5th of March will work for you. Ryan will be there with his tractor to rip & spread dirt, Glenn is renting a big loader to move and shape and if you can make it with yours to rework the face and landings of the jumps and what ever else we need. Let us know if it will work for you, it seems the other weekends are out for the other guys anytime in the near future. Jeff

Jeff, Let's do it! ;D March 5th is a little short notice for me but I will make a point of being there. EVERYONE bring your rakes!!A good face takes a lot of rake work to get it right. I am glad to hear that something positive is coming from this. I hope to see every one there. I am looking forward to meeting more of you. Thanks for carrying the torch (everyone) for the rest of us that couldn't be there. Super Nice! Bob

Danny, I totally understand why you are busy at the track. I guess since you specifically pointed out quad riders, I got a little irritated with your comments. This is not a big deal, I was just speaking up for my group of riders (all 1 of me).
