I was told that it happened on his 1st lap and that he didn't check the track out before he went blasting down it. What ever the cause, story is that he broke his femur and the bone was poking out his leg pretty bad.

This is 2nd hand, so not positive an accuracy, but I heard that he didn't turn the gas on before he took off on the first run.... No protective gear other than helmet, gloves.... But whatever the cause.. it is very unfortunate and I hope he recovers 100%... We wish him a speedy recovery!!

I believe his bike riding days are over. I was told he lost his spleen in an earlier crash and this ended his riding. As in any sport everyone should warm up before hitting the track at full speed. Of course if his gas was off, he had no chance.

I was there....Kid named Dustin did a major nose dive (Endow Big time!! Bike landed on him...with a couple of flips) off the first jump after starting line...he had just arrived...no warm-up. We tried to comfort him as much as possible....He didn't complain about stomach pain but with the rip in his paints and immeidiate major bruize on his femur area he was complaining about that area. I would of guessed at least a fractured femur. It took about 35 to 40 minutes for Ambulence to arrive

I ran into Dustin today, he had his new bike loaded up in the back of his Ford Ranger. He showed me the pictures of him lying on the track with a tear in his pant leg and 2 folds on his leg, one at the knee and another several inches above that. OUCH! He said that his gas was on but as he hit the 1st jump he attempted to seat bound and blip the throttle but it was a warm day and his bike was jetted for cold weather. When he hit the gas there was a hesitation so he didn't get the heigth needed to clear the jump. The back wheel hit the high spot at the landing and kicked the bike up and trapping his leg between the tripple clamp and radiator area. With his weight forward he endoed and busted it good. He has a rod in his leg and isn't suppossed the be riding yet but was at Highlands last week trying out his new bike. Get ready.
