Heard the Mike Haynes #36 crashed at Waco today I just spoke with Jeff about Mikes crash. Mike was doubling in to the rhythm section and crashed when he doubled or tripled out. He's at the Hospital, and it's unknown what his injuries may be at this time. If anyone has more info, let us know.

I just talked to Paula. She and Mike are at Providence. Mike has two broken ribs, and an air pocket in the cavity around his heart. He may also have a tear in his esophagus. They'll be doing more tests to check the air pocket, and esophagus. He is being admitted at this time. Room number is unknown as yet.

Just got in from the hospital seeing Mike & family. Mike is in good spirits as always but as anyone that has ever had broken ribs can attest, he is uncomfortable. The doctors are watching him and will do a follow up CT scan between 9 & 10 am Sunday and will take about an hour to read the results. Pray all is well and he gets to come right home. We will know more about noon on Sunday and Paula will keep me updated so I can let everyone know. He is in room 375 at Providence Hospital in Waco.

7:30pm Sunday, just got off the phone with Mike. The doc said everything looks okay so he is now at home resting. He's very sore and has a follow up doc visit in a couple of weeks. He said his phone has rang non-stop and appreciates all the calls & visits. What he needs now is rest because broken ribs make it tough to talk & move around.

I can't seem to find the words to tell you guys just how I am feeling... I'm setting looking over at Mike (FINALLY) resting in the recliner, thinking about all the calls, text messages, visitors, 1 cute Benny puppy & prayers. I could not have been as strong as I was without them and knowing My Lord God was and is in control. It's been a long three days and I'm exhausted. Thank you doesn't describe how Blessed Mike & I are to have friends like you. I will confess now that all is OK and the man I couldn't live without is snoring just six feet away, tears are falling. Mike's strong and in a few months he'll be able to take the trash out again, Oops... I mint RIDE AGAIN. As most of you all know... riding dirt bikes is and has been and will continue to be in Mike's blood. Many people come into this sport enjoying the excitement and all around fun of it. But there are times when life changes thing up. People move on to different chapters of their life’s journey. Mike's motorcycle passion started at a very young age. Being told by his Dad NOT to ride on his cousins (get this) rented dirt bike, a little 50 cc. Guess what? Yap. He go on the back and down the street they went. All was well till a car backing out of their drive way became between them and their path home. Need I say more… Mike’s first crash age 10, telling his Father, and I quote him “ I will never get on another motorcycle again in my life” With a father who wanted nothing to do with the ideal of Mike's interest in motorcycles fought him tooth and nail. Finial giving in Dad bought Mike his first bike... It was two old Harley Davidson 50's for Mike to use one for parts and make one run. (age 12) From there was a 69 CL Honda 90 with a blown motor for Mike to get running (age 13) Traded it for a 65 Honda CL 72 250 Scrambler, sold and bought a 66 Suz X6 Hussler. Started working at Inmon's Motor, and from there Texsun Suzuki. After Graduating High School he moved to Austin to pursue a career as a drummer, continuing to ride dirt bikes every chance he could. Moved to Palestine, then to Corsicana when he became the General Manager for Jef's Susuki for 12 years. He was in the world he had dreamed of. During those years and after he was experience the thrills of Drag racing. He took his street legal suzuki, (Tim the tool man) adding his touches to increase the speeds in a 1/4 mile track continuing to stay on the dirt tracks with his friends. Now in Waco he continues working in the motorcycle industry. Becoming involved with the Waco Eagles, riding the track and bench racing with friends. I can’t tell you how many evening dinner’s, TV shows have been spent with Mike on the phone or standing on the curb leaning on a truck helping desperate riders or father’s of riders install a part, diagnosing the problem(s), about riding techniques, track issues, ext. Not complaining. Just insight on Mike’s addictions to motorcycles. I wouldn’t change it. Do I like to see Mike race? I love it, and seeing Mike ride, knowing he’s doing what he loves makes me happy for him. Do I like to see him hurt? No, but I know it comes with the sport. Broken bones & ribs, scrapes and bruises are one thing, but the air bubble near his heart, well… That’s hard… and I’m struggling with this one. Do I wish he would quit? Yes, No, Maybe, I wish he would Slow down. But he can’t and he knows that. Will I ask him to stop? No, I love him AND his passion for motorcycles. It’s a packaged deal. From the age 10 to now 52 Mike’s motercycle passion lives, lives strong. For Mike it’s not just a crazy hobby people say he should have out grown by now… IT IS HIS LIFE. Is he crazy? Come on... you think I'm going to anawer that?
I love you all for all you are, God Bless you, Paula

Hey Mike I'm thinking we should change our numbers! #36 is starting to be pretty unlucky... Well, I'm gonna start back at riding this weekend, so if I get hurt again you'll know to chang your number before you ride again! :-) Hope you get well soon!

Hi Mike I have met a few time at waco u seem like a really nice guy, but I heard that u had to back to work with injuries because of work. I understand that u work at bargers, correct me if im wrong but didnt u crash at an event that they were sponsoring. I dont understand how a employer that promotes a dangerous sport can get mad at a employee for not working after getting hurt doing a sport that they are promoting, seem like to me they would be happy that u were there supporting thier efforts.

I can't and won't speak for Bargers but I think a better guess about Barger's involvement with the races would be more of promotional rather than support.
