Jeff,Please do not take my comments offensively. I feel that I must get this off my chest - so I can go on. You don't have to worry that I will interfere with any club business from this point on -- I've been to my last club meeting, I've worked my last race, I've cleaned my last restroom.
Brenda, I do not take your comments as offensive, they are not a personal attack on me. You and Billy have done so much for the club and I notice, I just want to make you aware of that. Thanks for being a part of the Waco Eagles in the past and I hope that you, Billy, and the boys along with the rest of your family will continue to grace us with your smiling faces at Waco events.

I feel that the constitution was pulled out to merely and obviously keep Tim and Kurt from being elected to the e-board.
The constitution was pulled out to make the members aware that there had been a protest concerning the two nominees qualifications and to clarify what the qualifications are. I simply stated that the proper thing to do was as I mentioned, "re-nominate and vote at the January meeting." As you are aware the club majority out voted me on the issue.
I feel that the constitution should be viewed more as a guide line than an absolute because it can never cover every aspect that we are sure to face as we have just seen. I've learned from this instance. I should have stood my ground on the issue even though it would have not been the popular thing to do.

There was a huge turnout of members who do not usually come to the meetings, do not come to the monthly motocross races -- I do acknowledge that they probably do come to the track twice a year to the flat track, so I don't really want to push that issue and turn this into a flat track vs. motocross issue. I had more the feeling of the old time members vs. the newcomers. There was some as you stated "old time members vs. the newcomers" involved as there will always be. That doesn't make it wrong does it? I think the bigger issue is, as you stated prior to that, "flat track vs. motocross." What several members fail to see is that the flat track and motocross members are not often at the track at the same time so many are not aware how involved they are. This makes it difficult to accept that we are all one club. When members don't see both sides of the issues it makes it hard to understand both sides.

Here's my point - if the club is going to follow the constitution, let's also follow the rest of it - or change it if we aren't going to follow it. There is a requirement - that you read last night - that each officer work a minimum of 6 days for the track. Don't think I've seen one particular e-board member lift a finger at all?
I will be scheduling a meeting for all officers before too long to discuss and cover several areas of concern, all that should have been addressed already.

Does Ross' work as treasurer count for his 6 days? I could go for an exemption for Glenn - flat track only happens twice a year, but he does the majority of the work. Wouldn't you consider his dues paid? What about the rest of the officers? ( There's no question as far as your contribution goes! You live there! ;D)Ross has shifted his interest toward flat track since his last mx injury. He has worked every flat track event that we've done in the last 2 or 3 years. I was making fun of him at the last flat track race prep when he spent a couple of days walking around the 1/2 mile picking up rocks, I told him that he was well suited for that position. He also spends a great deal of time running errands for the club and working on projects such as driving to Oklahoma to check out the water truck that we were considering this year. When we were buying the new tractor it took Ross weeks to correct some oversights with the state from years past when a new treasurer would come in and not file the proper paper work with the state. He also takes a day off from work once a month to drive to Dallas to pick up trophy parts and then spends a couple of days building trophies in his garage and then delivers them to the track all at a price we can't beat if we were to buy smaller trophies locally. In his spare time he keeps the books.
Glenn on the other hand is my room mate at the track. He just has a bigger girl friend than me ;D We did only have two flat track weekends this year due to Glenn's cancer therapy but remember that flat track races are 2 day events. Flat track race prep takes about 2 weeks from start to finish whereas mx takes about a day.

My point is - if you are going to use the Constitution to disqualify members from running for office, let's go the extra step and please enforce the requirements for holding office.Brenda
The thing we all have to realize is that these are all volunteer positions. It all comes down to personal commitment on the volunteers part. To reiterate what I've already said earlier, most people have no idea what other people do most of the time. Did anyone know it was Mike Haynes that spent Mondays after the races at the track picking up trash and emptying the trash barrels? Does anyone know where our racing software came from and how many hours it took Danny to make it? How many people knew that Michael Minor, Mike Davis, Wayne Coughran, Glenn and myself put the water pump in the red truck the last time? How many people knew it was Johnny Baker that did it the couple of times before that? Who knew Johnny was the one that built the flat track bathrooms? It was Rick Denny and Glenn that loaded up the storage building behind the mx tower on a trailer and brought it to the track. I could go on and on but the point that I'm trying to make is that there is so much that goes on behind the scenes that people are just not aware of and take for granted that things just are there and waiting for them to enjoy. The fact is that Waco Eagles has survived for 73 years because we have been able to count on the unselfishness of our members. It takes everyone to make us who we are. We are a club built on character by the sweat and dedication of those that require no gratification. God has blessed this club and with his grace we will be here for another 73 years and it will only get better.
