Things didn't start off too well for the track committee work detail. I pulled in Saturday just about 5pm in a mad rush to get the blade hooked up to the tractor before the rains came. Didn't happen. It seems to work best to drag all the loose dry stuff with the blade then wet it down to hold in place. With the almost certain rains on the way I worked as fast as I could to get the tractor started but it only spun the starter. As the rains started falling we continued to attempt a field repair on the tractor and just as the rains stopped, the old Ford kicked over. Though it was wet we started in to get done what we could with what we had. Mike, Janine, Mike & Billy manned the picks and shovels while I pulled slop all over the track. Several braking bumps were removed and the TDT was somewhat repaired but with that came huge chunks and hunks of dirt and debris all over the track. About the time the track started getting dry enough to work the tractor gave up. It was getting pretty dark so we all called it a night.
Sunday morning came way too early but I figured it best to get a jump start on finishing up what we started Sat before the track got busy. I hit the track about 8:30 Sunday and the old Ford started right up.
I was able to rework the entire track before Mike showed up. The repairs on the TDT look great and all the other work we did Saturday I was able to clean up. Mike suggested we add a small berm heading out of the woods section at the trash depot then it was on the the turn before the roller section leading to the finish line jump. Drainage pipe was added and a ton of dirt was brought in to fill the low washed spot. I left about 3:30 as Mike began dumping water on the new sections. I guess we'll find out next weekend how the repairs hold up.
Thanks to all those that came out to lend a hand.
