The track suffered yet another water leak up by the flat track bathroom sometime over the weekend before Jan 30. Due to the heavy rains it is not known just how long the water ran but there was a river through the pits and down to the creek. The culprit was an apparent pvc connection under the ground that was never glued. Got that dug up and repaired Monday night.
Tony and his brother in law (I think) , the Davis', along with the assistance of My Sipes and his generator managed to repair the starting gate Saturday. It was a major project. They had to actually cut a section out of the guide that held the gate to the left of the starting house and remove a 2' section of pipe and replace. When they got that all repaired they had to then replace the section that had to be cut. The outcome was such that it looks better and stronger than when new. They are planning to do the same on the other side and repaint all the gates. (He says to get rid of the KTM orange they are now but I persoannly don't see a problem with them being orange lol )
Billy Poteet and his coworker got all the parts to fix the tractor, new front tires, water pump, filter, carb kit, etc and got the old parts off. Had to get a different carb kit and was in the process of rebuilding it last I talked to him. Mike Haynes went to the track today to install the new pump and put on the tires. The tractor should be back up and running in time for the next race prep.
Jay called me and said he had left messages with the guy that is suppossed to give us a bid for the track repairs but no one has heard from him yet so we still don't know where we stand on that. Meanwhile the track is beginning to dry out again. I hope we haven't missed our window on that.
I still need to finish repairing the water pipes under the flat track building before that next race but the water is back on.
Looks like trash detail may be the main concern for the next work day. I will try to get out and get a head start on that before the time gets here so we don't have to work ourselves to death on the Saturday before the races. Is there anything else that anyone is aware of that needs attention?
One last thing. The club voted to purchace some new pa speakers and Glen said to go get them but I am going to wait on it utill we can get a pole set to mount them on. I want to add some up by the starting gate area to better cover that section of the pits.
