Each Saturday before the races there are a handfull, if that, of dedicated club members that take time out of their busy day to make the grounds more pleasant for all. From digging the dirt out of the starting gate, painting the gates, lubricating the gates, cleaning the bathrooms, replacing the blown up toilets, putting the dirt back on the track, draining the water off the track and picking up trash that other members couldn't find it within themselves to place in the dumpster. It was suggested by one of the volunteers that so much more could be done in such a less amount of time if everyone would please place their own trash iin the dumpster if the trash barrels are full. After all you can't even leave the club without driving right past the thing. Perhaps an extra trash bag in the car once in a while when your on the way to the track would do the trick. Come on people, let the volunteers get some seat time in too.

I'd like to bump this thread back to the top, the litter problem is again getting out of hand. Mike Haynes is going to be bringing out a few more barrels to put trash in. 4 of our newer barrels had to be thrown away last week because the bottom and sides had rusted out due to buring trash in them. Mike has asked that we do not burn the trash because the wet ash stops up the holes in the bottom of the barrels and prevents the water from draining and that's why they are rusting. Bargers has been generous enough to donate barrels in the past but they are not as easy to come by now as they once were.

Maybe we should take a picture of all that trash and put in our newsletter, so everyone can see what they leave behind, and tell them only a few of us pick up the trash. I got a great idea from Brenda to keep plastic gloves in our truck so when we are out there I can pick up that nasty stuff. Maybe we should get a few more dumpster instead of barrels, or just get all plastic so they can't burn in them. Just my 2 penny's. That's all I can afford this month. ;D Andra

I suggest that we purchase trash bags and hand them out at the front gate.
Sheena (daughter) could ask them to help out by using them and pitching them in the dumpster on their way out.
We could make several announcements through out the day as a friendly reminder.
Think about it.... Ten people successfully do this, that opens room in the cans for the ones who don't.
Maybe after a few months people will catch on, and our problem is somewhat solved.

Just a thought but maybe more barrels is not the answer. Those barrels are getting turned over by dogs for the food in them. Notice that often they are all on their side with everything torn out. I don't think members will litter and if there is not a barrel handy they will put their trash else where.

I suggest that we purchase trash bags and hand them out at the front gate. They do this at the TCCRA Races and it is pretty effective. They also penelize riders who leave trash in their camping area.

We are going back to Corsicana this Sunday and I have already told the Flea that he was not going to ride unless they make the track safer. I don't like the gap doubles at all but the combination of the very loose and dry dirt going up those steep jumps was a real concern. Add that to the loose dry dirt on the landings and you have a dangerous situation. The people there are very nice and receptive, so hopefully they will fill in some of those doubles and water the track real good. A really good watering will do more to make it safer than filling in the doubles. Last time big chunks of dry dirt was falling off the ramps which meant you had a different ramp on every lap.
