While we were at the track Saturday working on the starting gates, the two of us were talking about our p.o.s., pain in the patootie swimming pools. His turns green every day but at least it has water in it, mine doesn't.
I bought my house in 1988 and though it wasn't quite what I was looking for, my wife liked it and the headaches began. I think the reason she wanted it was because it had this big in ground swimming pool. Not knowing anything about a pool, I took the sellers word on how much of a breeze it was to keep up as long as you didn't let it get out of hand. That's also when I learned about a vinyl pools, that's what mine is. The 1st year or 2 was okay and then the liner started ripping. Seems they are good for about 10 years, mine was about 12 by that time. No problem, I called the pool people and had it replaced. Cost was a little over 2K. 10 or 12 years go by and it's time again. This time when I called it's more than 4K because the price of oil went up. Can't afford that so I ordered a liner, gonna do it myself. Pulled the old liner out so I could accurately measure, $1600 later I have my new liner in a box sitting in the garage, it's time to get to work. (More like take a few days off work.)
When the vermiculite base sits with no water on it, it starts to crumble. Down to the pool place for 3 bags of poolcrete. Got it looking pretty good and the rains came and washed it away before it dried. Finaly got that fixed last night and took the day off work today to get her done. WRONG! I've been out there all day and so far I only have the wall liner cussion stuff up, nothing else. Suppose to rain tomorrow. After Poppa Rollos tonight I plan to come home and work all night and get the darn thing in. So there you go Mark! Go work on the green algee in your pool.
