If there's one thing I hate more than anything it has to be plumbing. Anytime something breaks it always happens at night after the store is closed. Here's my latest fiasco.
Been doing some remodeling at the house. It all started when I had a little water seapage in the shower. No problem right? I called insurance company and they paid to have my shower pan replaced. I've done it before so I didn't mind tackling the task. For a temporary fix I hit everything with a bunch of grout and started on some other things I had been wanting to do. Now that I had a little extra money from the insurance company and I was doing the work myself, I began by replacing the water damaged door frame with a new, better looking style door. My intentions were to replace all the doors in the house.
After I replaced the one door in the back bedroom I moved to the living room and pulled up all the carpet. Acid stained concrete was my next project. What a mess that was. When I finaly got that done I moved on to retexturing the walls and paint. Had to replace the base boards too ya know. Having trouble matching the wall paint to the floor. Painted it twice so far, oh well, on to the next room which would be my office. Did I mention I started all this before Christmas?
The office was a major task. Started by retexturing the walls then pulled up all the carpet in there too. Everything was going smooth. Went to Lowes to get more paint and instead of 2 gallons white and 1 gallon brown, they mixed just the opposite. Oh well, guess my office will look good brown. Went to get the carpet and they didn't have what I picked out. After waiting a week and squeezing between my desk in the hall everytime I needed to go to the bathroom I finaly changed my carpet choice just so I could get finished. Started on the carpet last night and wouldn't you know it, I ran out of glue with just a little area left. Went ahead and cut the base boards to be that much closer to finishing. Picked up more glue today and put the finishing touches on that. It's starting to look real good! All that was left was to install the base boards. One nail left and pssst! d**n, I hit a water line. There goes the new carpet. There goes the wall! What a mess!! It's 11pm and the water is cut off and my arm feels like it's broken from trying to get the water turned off. The valve was so tight it broke my t-handle and had to resort to a 12' cheeter bar and a monky wrench.
This sucks! Worse of all I know I will have to make 3 trips to the hardware store tomorrow for plumbing supplies. It always takes 3 trips. Wish I could wash my hands.
