I know we have voted on it and the plans are in the works to allow guests but there are always extenuating circumstances. This one leaves us up in the open with our pants down.
This weekend we had guests at the Waco Eagles. Not sure how they got in Saturday but Sunday a member let them in & back out after hearing their story. The guests stated they had been talking to a club officer and are in the process of joining however that officer has been unavailable. Our member, knowing the circumstances, did the next best thing, as not to discourage a new member. They, to the best of their ability, verbally disclosed the Waco Eagles Release of Liability Waiver and had the guest agree to it. I doubt that would have gone very far in a court of law but I do admire the spirit and good intent. That member has asked me to place on the web a Release of Liability/Waiver however the only one we have is on the membership application and I'm not sure how appropriate or legal it is. I searched through many other sites on the web and through several legal form suppliers and found one I hope will work in the interim.
I know this is a lot of mumbo-jumbo to read through however it will be a lot less of a headache than if we were to lose our club because someone got hurt, or worse, just because we didn't take the time to protect ourselves.
I have not gotten in touch, for approval, with the WEMC board or committee yet and I am not an attorney but I hope that until an official waiver has been adopted that this one will work for us in a "good faith" capacity. Members please print the form and throw it in the glove box or gear bag so the next time we run into this we will at least have something in writing just incase.
Thanks. Form was changed Feb 14 2005. The New Link is
