Anthony Wood has one, get with Danny Krumnow he can get you in contact if you dont know him Anthony's number is 662-801-3501 I do urge you not to buy a KTM 50 they are loads of trouble. You are much better off buying a Cobra. Just ask Troy or me we can tell you almost exactly which parts are going to break first and all KTM parts are expensive. There is a new 50 on the scene which I can not personally vouch for but so far it has had excellent reviews. It is called a PRC (Pro Racing Cycle) Todd Heemsburg in Colleyville is designing and testing them. He is also a Dealer. From what I read the clutch almost never needs work and everything on the bike is designed to last. I also heard the price new is much less than the other 50s. His number is 817-581-1551.

We did not start out on the 50's Garrett was already too big for that. Thank goodness, because all our friends had them and they call their KTM's "ATM"s. Just something to think about.

We had a KTM 50 when Hailey 1st started riding and had no problems with it but it was a mini adventure and not the Pro JR or SR. She out grew very fast both physically and in performance.
The bigger KTM's have been great for me. We did have the 65 KTM and had no problems with it but didn't have it that long or ride it that hard. The 85 Kawi's I've had problems with but not the 60's or 65's. Guess we were just lucky

Guess we were just lucky All of the 50s have problems except the Honda XR. The Kawasaki 65s have Crank Problems just like the 85s. This can be partially remedied by running 28/1 gas mix but for some reason no one does it. As in most bikes especially the KTM 50s you don't have problems until your rider gets to a certain level then all kinds of problems surface. The weakness of KTM 50s include weak Water Pump shafts and bad bearings in a lot of places. The bearings can be saved if you take them apart, pop the seal and put grease in them. A lot of bearings are going to be found dry. The other KTM 50 hangups are weak Clutch Baskets. These break at the shaft and can be rewelded by a really good welder, but they are then not legal to run in a stock class. Clutches on a KTM 50 are OK except they require regular maintenance. We also broke several swingarms on our KTM 50s as well as having to replace all the rear spokes with after market Buchannons which was then illegal to run in stock classes. Another weakness is the unusual size chain which wears out fast because it is a little small. This wears your sprockets as well. Cobra has their sprocket mounted in rubber to absorb some of the shock while landing with the power on. Cobras have 420 chains which is the same size as an 85 Honda. They also have a new clutch that is supposed to be much more maintenance free. We never broke a Basket or a Clutch on a Cobra. Cobra has solid wheels that never break spokes but if you bend one like we did they have a years warranty. Never had a Water pump issue on a Cobra. The only weak part of a Cobra is the Stator which is also a weak part on a KTM. Cobra has supposedly fixed this problem as well even though we never had a Stator go out. KTM rarely ever updates the 50s where Cobra refines their 50 every year. Another problem with the KTM 50s is the Headsets. We went through a Couple sets of Head Set bearings. Never had the problem on the Cobra. We never broke the frame on a Cobra but we did on KTM. KTM focuses its money on its bigger bikes. The KTM 65 is the King of the 65 class. It is not much faster than Kawasaki but it is easier to ride because it has a better powerband and shocks. When it does break it is always more expensive to fix. 85s are much more equal. Yamaha is tough but a little harder to ride than Suzuki because of the lack of a Power Valve. Yamaha seems to have very few real problems with their 85 other than the tight power band that likes to be run on top. Yamaha has a 428 Chain which is bigger and stronger which is about the only advantage over Honda. Honda 85 is essentially the same no power valve not a lot of low end, likes to be run on top. No other real problems except that small chain. Suzuki 85 runs great but has one big failing. Suzukis break their Aluminum frames which are very expensive to replace. Kawasaki 85 runs good but has a Crank problem just like the 65s. KTM 85s are very expensive and have few known problems except thay are bigger than the other 85s. They are also much more expensive to fix. Hope this gives my view on the Minis.

As many of you know I have some series "issues". My wife indicates I am very unstable? I chalk this up to the 50cc days. I was doing very well with my rehab, until Anthony Wood had me work on his Pro Sr. I think they call that a relapse??? God Bless all you 50cc parents!!! Good luck! PS. It does get better
