What 4-stroke oils is everyone running?

Plain ol' Castrol 20w50. Been using it for 15 years. However I change my oil after every ride. You can get it in 5 gallon jugs at Pep Boys, Oreilly's etc... its cheep and does the job.

daniel, watch which oil you use. i always have used castrol 20w50 myself. but when i bought a 4 stroke i learned you have to look on the back of the container where there is a circle showing the certificate of the oil. if it says 'energy conserving' in the circle, you cant use that oil weight. it has additives which cause wet clutches to slip. castrol 20w50 is fine, but castrol 10w30 is not, just for instance. FYI!

Thanks, That's actually good info. It is not just copy and pasted stuff i already knew. I knew you could not use synthetic because the obvious"Low friction" properties on the clutch. And i did use 10w30 last time, and was having problems with power loss which must of been the clutch. I was thinking it was the tire(have new one now) or gas a guy gave me. Glad i only had 1 short ride on that oil. Ill probally be out there tomorrow. Thanks again for the advice i could actually use.

It also depends what type of bike you have. I have a 450 Honda and run Castor Oil 20w50 in the engine and Bel-Ray synthetic xmission oil without a problem, but in the Honda the clutch runs off the transmission oil. I don't know this first hand but I've been told in some of the other brands the clutch is lubed by the engine oil in which case all the above comment s about low friction oils are true.
(May explain why some of us get away with 20w50 without a problem) Good luck

Just wanted to comment I've been running Castrol Act*Evo 20w50, for some time now with no problems. It's a synthetic blend so you get the protection of a synthetic, but I haven't had any problems with clutch slipping.
