hay jeff are you going to change that finish line section if so will you put back the big finish line jump and that little jump because to many people are geting hurt There were many more riders getting hurt on the old finish line jump. People would fall or stop in a blind landing area and get hit. Ask the Flea. There are no plans to change the finish, especially since we just finished building the scoring stand. There will be some changes to the track soon, still in the planning stages for now. Can't say exactly what all will get an update but everything depends on what dirt we have available for that section. We have no way to move dirt any distance without some serious equipment. I do have a question for you, and anyone else for that matter. What constitutes the need to change a section? We have people that crash everywhere on the track because we ride motocross. This past weekend, Wes crashed over Rocky-Top. Do we need to take out or change Rocky-Top also? Last month we had a quad rider go to the hospital after crashing over the Camel-Back, do we take that jump out too? It seems strange to me that I hear so much about the section after the finish line being too fast but I haven't seen anyone crash there. Also the new start line is super long and everybody is bunched all together, and to my knowledge I haven't seen anyone get hurt on it. Ever think that riding more safely and within your means would play a role in if a rider will crash? Don't intend for it to come out as harsh as it probably sounds but I know no other way to put it. Ever since I started riding motorcycles I've heard "it's not if you crash, it's when you crash" and "dress for the crash, not the ride". I know from personal experience that if I ride, I will eventually crash. Also the more riders on the track at one time will increase the odds of someone going down. The last 2 months we have had close to 50 more racers on the track than we've had in the last 3 years which could be a reason. The more on the track during a race, the harder a rider will push, and the more fatigue will set in allowing riders to make mistakes. Our riders are going a lot faster every race because they are getting more confident but there is something else to consider. The way our track is laid out, it is very easy to hold the throttle on and blitz through the track. The way most of our jumps are designed it takes very little skill to launch through a section, or over a jump because the landings are tapered off so it doesn't matter where you land. In order to improve a riders skill, there must be obstacles that require a riders judgment to negotiate. The reason the little tabletop before the old finish worked so well (before the approach was changed) is because the rider knew he had to slow down or he would miss the landing. There are those kind of obstacles at many of the other area tracks that our riders don't know how to negotiate because they haven't been exposed to them. I urge everyone to take a moment and consider that though winning a race, or placing a position higher is a great feeling, taking risks that may net disastrous results is not worth the reward of a plastic trophy that won't buy you anything. The throttle goes both ways and each of us have brakes on our bikes.
