We just bought a KX80 and an almost complete "parts bike" for my nephew for $400. The motor is an 89 but the frame is an 87. That's 2 bikes for 1. I test rode it and even though it's an older bike, it will knock your socks off. Most of the plastic is in good shape. Motor sounds good. The left shroud is missing though. Did I get a good deal or did I get suckered into the deal?

I'd say the price was about right. Something about the pre '93 is the cylinder has a steel liner, You could consider it good or bad. It's cheaper when it comes rebuild time, but takes away from the performance. It also doesn't use a powervalve in the cylinder, so it gives it a steeper powerband.
The price was ok, and it should make a decent starter bike.
Does your parts bike have a front end? If so I'm looking for one to put on my ttr125. PM me if you want to sell the front end.
