Does anyone know right off hand what the tire size is on a 1997 RM125? We have a 21" front & 19"rear. Just wondering if we could go a few sizes lower. Thanks!

The first number is the width, the second is the percentage of the width tall. So a 110/90 would be 90% tall as it is wide. A 100/90 would be shorter but also narrower. I'm not sure there is alot of options you'll have to look around. If your bike is still too short after the seat, You might look at a rear lowering link and dropping the forks down in the clamps. It's a cheaper alternative, and I hear mixed things, But for a beginner I think it would be fine?
My RM-Z250 is way to tall for me, it's comical. I need to do the seat. I wan't to just have the suspension redone and lowered because I'm way to light for it, and it gets all kinds of headshake and slows me down nearly to stop on breaking bumps. But it cost so much and I havn't even ridden it in forever. But I'm getting them out and ready to ride.

Are you still trying to lower the bike? If so, how much do you need to lower it? If you sit on the bike with full gear on, how far are your feet from the ground? FYI: If you decide to reduce the tire/wheel size at front and rear by 2 inches, it will only lower the bike by 1 inch. That's a major change to the bike for only 1 inch of seat height reduction.

The thing is that two of us share this bike. I'm hesitant on doing anything major to it because of our height difference. No one ever brought up the tires, and we got to looking and wondering if we could adjust the tire size. But I'm coming to the conclusion it will probably be best to just get a smaller bike for me. I'll have to wait until income tax time then I can get a really good bike preferably newer. It will give me sometime to shop around. We have a few deals in the making. We sold one of our 4 wheelers to try to at least get a pit bike or older running dirt bike out of it. Thanks for all the suggestions.

You know tires and wheels are different, Hehe Kidding. The wheel thing isn't a good choice. If anything a rear lowering link and drop the forks in the clamps. You don't HAVE to touch the ground,...I can barely start my bike on flat ground. I don't really know what bike you would switch to. Unless you get another 125 and have one lowered and one not.
