Hey guys, i would like to first thank all of you for getting me loaded up and making sure i was ok. After quite a few hrs at the ER yesterday, final diagnosis was 3 cracked ribs, bruised sternum, fractured right collarbone, strained neck and a slight concussion. They wouldn't let me leave till 8pm last night to make sure ever thing was going to be ok. I'm up early this morning because i don't think i ever really went to sleep last night, man this really sux bad and the pain just seems to get worse. I know allot of people say this and I've said it a dozen times, but this time is for real, i am done riding, i cannot continue to hit the ground that hard at my age. As much as I love mx its time for me at 52 years old to just give it up, i have been getting hurt pretty frequently and this one really hurt big time, i don't want to do this anymore. Again, i love you guys and i thank you for all your help yesterday. I will cya around. Pcrashdummy, 2010

Mikey,
Glad you are ok.... It is the hardest thing in the world to give it up. It will be one year ago that I took my last hit. Although I miss getting back on, I have managed to keep my promise to my wife. I used to think walking was over rated, however she aint gonna push me in a wheel chair. It will be hard, cause everyone around you will try and get ya back going. Get healed up and hope to see ya around soon.
Ron

Have you guys ever thought of non-competitive riding? A few years ago I had the pleasure of riding a week with the legend Malcom Smith. He was 65 or so back then and smooth as silk on a bike. We had more fun just cruising around the trails. Sure it was at a slightly faster pace than just putting around but it was not at an all out "balls to the wall" pace. It was every bit as enjoyable as pushing yourself past the brink and never at one time did either of us bobble.

X2 on what Jeff said. Don't give it up, just tone it down. Just as much fun.
