I am not sure if Molly is racing this Sunday or not..probably not actually she is a bit discouraged after last month's race and may not race Waco anymore at all.. Problem is she is too old for the 85 class. We got her a KX125 but she is so little that you have to help her go and catch her when she stops and it would be a long time before she is ready to race it.. Not sure what we are going to do with her at this point. She wants to keep racing just not sure how or where... Just wanted you to know.. Julie (Molly's mom)

Sorry to hear that. I totally uderstand about being a smaller rider. There's no rules for Women on the CC requirements, so she still could ride an 85 if she's more comfortable, despite her age. Just about all tracks have a Women's class that's 80cc & up, reguardless of age. Also, they shouldn't have a problem with her riding in the 85 Beg class either. I have had the same struggles too since I started almost 2 years ago. If you want, we can try doing the same thing to her bike as we had to do with mine. KX's are good bikes for smaller riders. I guess that's why alot of Women ride KX's. First thing we shaved the seat quite a bit & it helped. There's a few adjstments we could do too. I would really like to help her in anyway possible, I hope she doesn't give up. It just takes some time. I am hoping to bring my nephew & his 85 this weekend. She's more than welcome to use it if she wants to! Hope ya'll come out!!!

I will talk to her about it. She still has her 85 and feels more comfortable on it for now. She doesn't want to give up, especially since her dad started racing again.. Clay raced his first race in 24 years Sunday at Burleson and placed 4th.. he was on the KX125 and raced against all 250s and 450s. Did pretty good for his first time racing in that long =]

That's okay Ron, you can race the blue tractor, it knows where to go.

Here is another problem we have with Molly. She is under a lot of pressure to perform well. She is 17 years old and has been an insulin dependent diabetic since age 23 months.. ok so she is on an insulin pump and the makers of her insulin pump (Johnson and Johnson Corporation) want her to do media spots for them promoting diabetes awareness and their insulin pump so they want to send a media team to film the races. That means Molly has go to ride a lot better than she is for them as this will be on TV. They are talking about local and national media spots. So.. she is under a lot of pressure and not sure what to do.. We had our first meeting with the media team a couple of weeks ago and they are working up a promotion plan for Molly but we are not sure what they want exactly or when they want to send out a film crew. Molly does not want them disappointed. Julie Martin

She seems like such a sweet young woman & we want to do whatever it takes to help Molly out. If she decides to race this weekend, we got several ideas that may help, we'll get together & talk about it before the races if ya'll come. For starters, I can race our YZ 85 or maybe borrow a TTR125 instead of racing my KX125, that way it would be more fair. Even though I'm still somehwhat a beginner myself, I would be more than glad to "buddy" up with her on the weekends to practice. Tell her we got her back & we will not let her be disappointed!

I will let you know what she is going to do. Thank you so much for encouraging her. Last race was bad for her as her blood sugar was super high and she felt horrible that day. Julie

Molly thinks that is great you would come out and ride with her. When do you usually go practice on the weekends?

Molly thinks that is great you would come out and ride with her. When do you usually go practice on the weekends? Great! We try to go on Saturdays, then in June once school lets out we'll try going on Fridays too. We may go on a Sunday, but the kids like to go to church too, so Sundays are usually decided at last minute & later in the day. We plan on going out this Sat early to camp, so if ya'll like to come out then we could check out her KX125. Probably no riding on the track, but we could ride on the grassy area or flat track if she wants. Hope to see ya'll then!

We can't Saturday as Molly is in a 4-H district competition.. but I think we will be seeing you Sunday. She wants to race. She is just going to ride her 85 for a little while longer. We are sending her to race school with Barnett on the 24th.. After school gets out let me know when you go in the week and we can get together. Clay and Molly usually go out on Sunday afternoons after church to.
