If anyone has ever been to the track when we are watering, you probably have noticed the smoke bellowing out of the big water truck. It burns way more oil that fuel. Compression tests shows that we have two cylinders with very low compression. Though the excessive smoke seems to keep the mosquitoes away, we figure the truck isn’t going to run much longer. We have been informed that the Cat 3208 is more or less a “disposable engine” and a rebuilt one costs about $5000. We were also informed that they used this same engine in a lot of school busses. If anyone has a line on an engine we can get for cheap, please let us know.

jeff, there is an ad on the dallas craigslist for a factory rebuilt cat 3208 for $1950. 732 w. mansfield hwy, kennedale tx 817-572-2391 or 817-483-0022 kennedale is south side of FTW go to the dallas CL and search cat 3208. just something i saw today. terry
