Tuesday the 26th of April is the next club meeting, 7pm @ Papa Rollos.
The Flat Track races were huge this weekend and I’d like to send out congratulations to the members that put so much effort into and worked so hard on to pull off this event. Understanding the caliber of this event, and the positive impact it had on the club, I can understand why modifications had to be made to the existing PA system to accommodate the Flat Track area. With that in mind, I suggest the club invest in an additional PA system that will cover the MX area because this weekend the motocross side of the club suffered dramatically. Though all attempts were made to piece together a make shift PA out of left over parts, the mx track gate announcements could not be heard, especially when the FT event got underway.
The speakers that we have situated on the mx sign in tower alone are inadequate to cover any area without the use of the speakers that are on the flat track. Rumor from the stands on Friday night is that fans will support future events like the one we had this weekend so I hope to see more scheduled. In order to successfully host events ran at the same time, it would behoove WEMC to purchase and situate separate PA systems that will eliminate talk over and supply adequate coverage to both the mx & the flat track.

First, wish I could make a meetings, being hour 1/2 away can be difficult to work around during the week for us. Would like to comment on Flaggers on Race day. I trully enjoy flagging, I get to be out there watching and trying to keep riders safe. Plus I get to cheer everyone one. April 17th Race there was a rider who went down after camelback jump, where I was standing I couldn't see him. nor could my daughter from where she was standing. But , Thankfully we heard yelling and both were there, but wasn't sure where to stand to flag riders still running. I think we need to have a day where we get some sort of traning. Where to stand on track when riders go down. And really look at where flaggers are placed on track. 3 flaggers are not enough on Race day.(4 would have been great) ( even just running track A) When running both we need at least 7/8 flaggers) I realize finding someone who will stand out there for 5/6 hours in the cold, heat etc. is hard at times. And the fee you pay flaggers adds up with each flaggers , but money doesn't have any value at all, if we can't keep riders safe. And 5/6 hours out there and really no way of leaving to get water, I know of 3 times a flagger asked for someone to bring water, and was told sorry we can't right now. It was hot , and very dusty out there Sunday. I will be more then happy to flag every race, it's really not about the money (nice ,yes) we do get free lunch and drink. (We really don't get enough time to eat or have a bathroom break with the short intermission) I know we have to keep going to getter done. But just a few more mintues to pee would be great !!! I feel we should be trained more, get water when needed. I think we should be put higher to view track or placed where we can get to every part that ins't covered . I ran alot Sunday to cover parts of track that should have had a flagger. Thank you , for letting me vent . I just want to be able to do the right thing when a bad thing happens.

I'd be glad to host a flaggers meeting before the next race to cover do's & don'ts. I think the best time perhaps is while the riders meeting is going on we can walk on the other side of the building or inside and cover what needs to be covered.

I still wish we could build some small towers so the flaggers would be up off the ground and easer to see. We have the wood, all we need is the man (or woman) Power. I offer my help.

Do you think it would be better to set the stands in in the ground or build them to be portable?

I guess portable would be best, just as long as they are safe and wont tip over.

I wouldn't mind relieving the flaggers for them to take a break other than the intermission. I know it would be hard for me to stand out their for the entire day with just one break. Maybe we could get a few volunteers that wouldn't mind going out there for one of the races and give them a break. This is just an idea and I don't know if it has to be passed at one of the meetings or not.

I just wanted to say thanks to the flaggers. I was in the heat where the guy in first went down over the camelback. If yall hadn't been there I would've run straight over or landed on the guy. The flaggers there waved there hands and made sure everyone knew he was there. Good job, and keep it up.

I dont know if this will work, but can we not just get twice as many flaggers and have one set flag first motos and the other set flag the second moto? Then you could just pay them $10 instead of $20.......As for the training, I think there should be a "flaggers meeting" either after of before the riders meeting. I don't know if we can get enough people willing to volunteer, but thats my two cents.................Terry
