Just happened to be stopping at the track to pick up the $ from the box and saw a group by the camel back. Headed over to see and there was Jay on the ground in quite a bit of pain. They said they think he broke his collar bone and some ribs. It took quite some time to get him in the truck due to the pain. Anthony Wood took him to Hillcrest. How it all happened not too sure, but the word was Tony Moore and Jay were riding side by side and somehow hit and they went down and Jay got the worse end of the deal. Jeff was out there and I'm sure someone will be able to fill everyone with more information later.

Man word travels fast! This was posted by a member in Fort Worth before Jay ever made it from the track to the hospital. Anthony Wood carted Jay to Hillcrest, he's in the ER as I type. The jump after the Camel back is where it all happened. Jay was slightly in front of Tony when they both went for the jump and both aiming to clear it. As Jay landed, Tony said Jay took his hand off the bars for a second and put it on his hip then turned to the left thus changing his line just as Tony landed the jump. This put Tony landing approx 2 ft from direct impact of Jay. Tony was on the brakes hard but could not avoid contact and they both went down. I was past that point when it all went down and was slowed and waiting for them as they ascended the face of that jump but never came over the 3rd one. I immediately turned toward where they were suppossed to be in time to se Tony bouncing off the ground, Jay lay motionless only a few feet away. Tony tried to get up but fell to the ground as soon as he tried but pointed to Jay. I ran my bike up the jump to block traffic and ran toward Jay. I put my hand on him and started talking to him but he was out for the count. After a few minutes he eventualy started groaning but it was several minutes after that before I ever got a word out of him. Those of you that know Jay know that there is a real problem when Jay doesn't talk. By the time Jay started coming around a rather large crowd had gathered to assist. It would take several minutes before Jay attempted to move and it was clear that he was hurting on his left back side and he said he thought sure he has some broken ribs and perhaps a collar bone. Jay, being the not small guy that he is, is not a good patient! It took about 30 or so minutes to get him off the track and into a pickup to transport him. The only moment of relief we all got was when Jay asked what happened and Tony said he had run into him, Jay said "You *itch!" We knew he would return to normal I just got home and Tony is at the hospital with Jay and his family are on the way. When I talked to Tony he said that they had taken Jay to xray or imaging and they would let him know as soon as they were through. For now that's all we know. I hate when any of our members go down but us vet guys take a lot longer to heal. Keep your fingers crossed and perhaps say a little something for Jay to help him on his way to heal up. I'll post more when I hear more.

Geez, the lengths some people will go to to keep from racing me! ;D Jay, I feel your pain! Crashing hurts, but I think it hurts double on that concrete we ride on. Get well soon, and I'll try to hold back until you get back to riding!! Tim

Jay is in ICU at Hillcrest. He has some serious injuries.. I will not go into details for his privacy. They had to reinflate a lung, multiple broken ribs, bruised & slightly bleeding spleen, and a kidney that they are watching. He has a tube down his throat and still has the one through his side between the ribs where they inflated his lung. Say a prayer for Jay, this one hurt.

Last we heard Jay is in bad shape. He is in ICU with multiple internal injuries in addition to breaking most of his ribs on one side. I am not sure Tony is in that great of shape either.
Guys we are having too many folks get hurt by not holding your lines on the track. Please never stop to talk while on the race track and never swerve across the track. Never Never cut across the track ride the whole thing and get off where you are supposed to.
In addition to Jay I heard Jason Rich had surgery yeserday for an injury received racing in Arkansas.

As I'm sure you've read, Jay has been hurt in an accident. In talking to a few folks, the injuries sound fairly serious. As a recently injured old fart (vet rider), this doesn't go easy for us. Please extend your best wishes and condolences to Jay and his family in his time of need. As far as visitation, I plan to visit as soon as he is out of ICU. I know Jay would appreciate any visits and bike talk/bench racing. Thanks.

J. had some bleeding of the spleen, which had the Dr's concerned, but that has slowed greatly, and is looking much better. He will be in the hospital for at least another 2 to 3 days. He is unable to talk, due to the intubation, and that will be out in a day or 2. I will actually, for the first time, be glad to hear him bitchin' at me. ;D If anyone wants more info, just PM me. This one hurt J. a lot, so keep those prayers, and good karma and chi headed his way, please.

Sorry to hear you got hurt Jay! I was looking forward to racing you on that new Suzuki on the 18th if you wasn't worried about getting it dirty. Seriously hope you get to feeling better.
I second what Daddy flea states. HOLD YOUR LINE ON THE JUMPS!! You never know who is coming up behind you. If you take off on the left side of the jump and I'm coming up from behind you, going faster, and taking off on the right side but you do not hold your line in the air a disaster is in the making. If you take off on the left or right side land on that same side. What happened to Jay almost happened to me about a year ago over the finish line jump. I was racing in the vet class for the lead 1 lap to go. A guy was in front of me, he was slowing down in the whoops before the finish line jump every lap. So coming to whe white flag I committed to pass him over the finish line jump. He was on the right side of the take off I was about 2 bike lengths behind him on the left. Just as soon as my tires left the ground I realized what was about to happen. He was moving over from the right to the left while in the air. He was also going slower so he wasn't as high. about 2 ft lower. I remember bracing for impact with his bike and trying to keep the handlebars straight upon landing. I also remember the flag person running trying to get away from what was about to happen. We hit in the air and landed but luckily we didn't crash. When I went over and talked to this person after the race telling him to keep his line there were the tire marks and scrapes on the left side of his bike. Long story but it is very important to HOLD YOUR LINE. WHAT EVER SIDE YOU TAKE OFF ON LAND ON THAT SIDE. yOU NEVER KNOW IF THERE IS SOMEONE BEHIND YOU OR ABOVE YOU ABOUT TO LAND ON YOU. GET WELL JAY!!!! RANDY RODAK HONDA#15
