One of our best friends and riding comrades passed away today. Long time Waco Eagles member, Jay King, died due to complications related to the injuries he received while riding a few weeks ago. Words cannot express the feelings of so many at this time. Please offer up your prayers for Jay’s family, as his legacy will be sorrowfully missed. Godspeed Jay, we love you! Funeral arrangements to be announced.

Got the news yesterday and I am still in shock. I got to know Jay very well over the last few years, talking to him 2-3 times a week on the phone comparing notes on our 450's and gossiping. Jay was never at a loss for words and at times was a bit long winded. However, I would do anything for one of those long phone calls right now. I know the vets will agree, Jay's favorite spot on the gate will always be reserved God speed Jay King, and god bless your family. This is how I choose to remember

Wow - we are so sorry to hear the news. Our hearts go out to Jay and his family. Tony, if you guys need anything please let us know. We are still in shock - just woke up this morning to find out the news -- it's way too unreal right now. (Lee Snider - thanks for the text message - found it this morning or I might not have logged on until tonight.) Ron - you are right - Jay could be a little long winded - but that is what made him Jay - he will be sorely missed. Jay was one of the first people we met out at the Waco track. The boys were barely 6 years old - and that's how he got our family nickname for Jay. Billy and I were saying that Jay had told us something and the boys were trying to figure out who we were talking about. When we described him, they said "Oh you mean the Talker guy?" We laughed and said "I guess you could call him that!" So he became "Talker Jay" and that's how Jay has been referred to by our family ever since. "Talker Jay" - like everyone else, we will miss your stories and miss hearing your voice at the races and meetings. Rest in peace. The Poteets

I'm sorry to hear about Jay. I can only echo the thoughts of everyone, and also say that he will be missed by everyone. Jay was a good guy who would do anything for anyone.
I enjoyed our races and appreciate all the fellowship the last year and a half. It's hard to let go, but we all know he's in a really good place now!!
If there is anything we can do to help, don't hesitate to ask.
God bless you Jay King!!

I hope you don't mind this little letter of good-bye. That is exactly what it is intended to be. I only knew Jay for a little while, but he always seemed to be the center of attention kind of guy.
He was a jokester and a griper, but his bark was worse than his bite.
We all grieve in our own way, as a writer mine is with the use of words.
So enjoy.

To my great buds and friends at the Waco Eagles,
I woke up and saw a bright blinding light. I heard the choir of angels sing. I thought to myself, “This can’t be right. My life was a passing thing.” I saw a man in the distance. Confused, I went to ask.
His gentle face smiled as he nodded. “Yes son, your life has come to pass. I have a special job for you. I need you to do your best. I want you to build something on this massive patch of land, don’t laugh, I don’t jest.”
“I’m a salesman. I sit at my desk on my butt, “I can shoot bull with the rest of them and gripe and complain.”
He placed his loving gentle hand on my shoulder ignoring my protest all the same. “I will give you a crew of angels to help with every deed. They will be empowered to provide for your every need.” I watched as he strolled away meeting up with his son. The two waved at me and my task had begun.
I looked at the land before me, a heavenly track I see. I envisioned: berms, and doubles, and triples galore. I see a camelback, a hump back, and an old washboard. To the top of the highest mountain, down to barely touch the pits of hell, I see these surrounding a waterfall providing to a well. To the heavenly angels, “Dig out that triple and water that sand.” I say, “We have a track to build for my friends down Waco way.
The angels and I are working almost day and night, to make the heavenly track just right. Be patient don’t be in a hurry to ride my way. You will have a long wait. When your class is ready; God will call you to the gate.
I’m sorry I can’t call you and talk for hours on end. This is the only letter I will send. Jesus is sending a message. (He is always checking up on me I don’t know what to do.) He says to love one another as he loves you. (Ah isn’t that sweet? Ugh, Here I am distracted again, even in God’s heavenly plan.)
Don’t mourn me in sorrow. You know how hard I liked to play. It was just an accident it was my day. Think well of me when you speak my name. If anybody asks where’s King #113, tell them, “He’s paving the way-for the Waco Gang.”

The past two days have been, as you may well understand, sorrowful, and seemingly endless. And now, at just a few ticks past midnight, it is too quiet to rest. Not enough to do, to help distract myself from what must be a nightmare. I need sleep, and I want to wake up.
By the end of today (Sunday) I'll post the Visitation, and Service times. Services will be held at: Oak Crest Funeral Home 4520 Bosque Blvd. Waco
Thank you, for your amazing compassion, and willingness to run to the aid of a fellow Club Member, and Friend. God Bless You All!

Everyone at Waco Eagles knew Jay in some way or form. Jay was a talker but Jay had the same problem that I have at times. We talk so much that people start tuning us out and when we have a good idea, no one notices.
I worked with Jay in the club many times and especially remember working on the track committee with him. Jay represented the older Riders while I represented the Mini Riders. You would have though we were worlds apart. Problem was Jay and I were rattling all the time and some did not get to express their opinions. There was a real problem when Jay came up with some real good ideas and I got on board, now nobody else could talk for sure.
We can thank Jay for most of the good changes to our track. Jay argued long and hard for our split starting line. Nobody else thought it would work, but Jay could see it.
In the last couple of years Jay and I agreed on most things at the track and I can not remember a meeting where Jay was not present, but I can remember a day when Jay had nothing to say.
A few months ago Jay dropped his bike off at the track which all of you know was a Suzuki 450. He had just bought it and had not rode it much. He asked us to watch his bike for the night while he went out of town. When he came back to the track I had a couple of the Kids thank him for letting them ride his bike during the day.
Jay looked at me and could not decide whether to laugh, cry, or yell. That was the only time I ever saw him speechless.
Jay was certainly one of our most dedicated members and will be truly missed. Jay was my age and his passing hits very close to home for many of our Waco Eagles Members.
