For those of you who did not hear the Flea crashed hard going toward the Finishline jump. He now joins Matt Gerik, Keaton Smith, Philip McMeans, and Austin Brem who have all crashed in this section recently. Jeff has already altered this section.
I think we need to make a point to try and reduce the speeds on Waco track every chance we can by putting in as many turns and obsticles as possible.
Dr gave the Flea a good report. He is free to go back to riding. Dr said his arm would be a little weak until the bruises heal but otherwise good to go.
For those of you that don't wear Neck Braces and a full set uf equipment, please look at the Flea's bruises, especially around the neck, and reevaluate your equipment.

Danny,
Glad the Flea is OK, that was a bit scary. Gage asked about him today, I told him he was OK

we dotn need more turns!! You know it is funny I was on the last Track Committee representing the Mini Riders which was comprised of nothing but the fastest riders of the club. It seemed that track design issues were the same for all classes from Mini to Big Bike Open among the fastest riders. The one thing all agreed was the Waco Track is one of the fastest tracks around and all expressed the desire to cut the speed down a little. You can get hurt at any speed but running wide open in 4th or 5th gear is best suited for flat track.

That's where Dillon, my grandson, crashed. It is his favorite part of the track. He did complain about the rearend swapping through the whoops. I think the corner there is the problem. Dillon was getting on the gas before he got straightened up. He was hitting the whoops with the bike still slightly leaning to the left and the rear wheel spinning.
He was really disappointed to miss the race and is anxious to get back to Texas and ride with all his new-found MX buddies.
Glad Lee is okay.

Also wanted to let everyone know that some of the Flea's safety equipment was broken.
Steve and Jimbo at Waco Yamaha are trying hard to get more involved with the dirt bikes and are replacing his equipment.
Please remember the guys who are standing behind their products.

When first put in the rollers were big and consistant. Now they are little and very unconsistant. Jeff has now put in a small triple followed by a small double in that section. There was always concern about cutting speed in that section to avoid over jumping the finish line. This way there will actually be some jumps and as we all know you can not accelerate if your wheels are not on the ground.

I dont know if what Jeff put in is going to slow that part down. I was actually getting more speed tripling that part??? We will have to see how it works out with some more maintenance. I know Jeff was working on that area when the rains came Saturday and did not get to finish. One section that definitely needs to be slowed is the big corner and straight after the finish line jump. The braking bumps get bad and we all saw the wipe out, that kid looked like a rag doll flying around. That section is way to fast. I cringe every time the kids go through there and the bars start swapping back and forth.
PS. Your right Danny, Waco is one of the fastest. I never get into high gears on my bike anywhere like Waco.

YEA that section is even faster now that there is that Triple, at first i wasn't even paying attention as that section hasn't been changed in forever and I just did my normal run and was a little hesitant at first but still managed to triple it. I actually liked that section the way it use to be. That section wasn't even really a problem if you want speed takin out the straight after the finish is your problem going over that little table and to that first turn. I am usually 4th or 5th pinned on my big bike through that. I would love to see a huge sweeper turn at that turn before the finish line just like the one after Rocky Top. If it had a sweeper like that. That section would be the best. I will admit that the section is still a little awkward but very fast

When 6 people got hurt in a week in the same section, it was time to do something with it.

Like Danny said, "it's hard to accelerate with your tires off the ground." I was planning on a little more lift in the 1st section that perhaps a little seat bounce would be required, and a little more pronounced double afterward. All the track work just takes time. I've logged more than 15 (24 hour) days working on the track in the last 2 months, most of it done at night when everyone is at home asleep. I'll tell you that when you work on the track untill 3am and have to get up at 6am to go to work, get off at 5 and do it all again, it doesn't leave much time for anything else. I can only tackle what I can finish each time out so it doesn't interfere with everyone's ride time. I enjoy working the track but I have to take it step by step. Give me the time and I'll get it done.

Well , jeff we appreciate all you do and you can't satisfy everyone's taste . That's impossible to do . yes and time will complete the track . along the way people 's input will change outcome of your plans for the track . everyone acts as if they can stay on the bike everytime out , that's impossible because if your not wodding up and not getting dirty or "MUDDDYYYYY" ! your not riding fast , i'm just waiting for my son to eat it HARD !!! and then he will start listening to me about riding differently . i see that alot of folks are not fond of change , and not used to riding on new changes therfore they blow and go instead of taking it slow with new track changings and being cautious .
